How to Delete Instagram Account

Download Your Data First

Go to Settings > Accounts Center > Your information and permissions > Download your information. Request a copy of your data.

💡Instagram sends a download link to your email. This may take up to 48 hours.

Delete Account Permanently

Go to Settings > Accounts Center > Personal details > Account ownership and control > Deactivation or deletion. Select your account, choose Delete account.

💡You have 30 days to cancel. After that, all data is permanently deleted.

Temporarily Deactivate Instead

In the same menu, choose Deactivate account instead of delete. Your profile hides but data is saved.

💡Log back in anytime to reactivate your account.

Confirm Deletion

Enter your password, select a reason for leaving, and click Delete account. Check email for confirmation.

💡Don't log in for 30 days or deletion will be cancelled.
